West Country based - Rev Hammer often connected to the Levellers, Drunk In Public (name of the band you understand!), Beautiful Days Festival, Red Sky Coven and writer of the epic folk opera Freeborn John is a real character and singer/songwriter.  He is looking to do more acoustic solo gigs and we want to see him more!

London based singer/songwriter Andy Smythe and I have known each other for about 3 years or so and is enjoying soaring success around London and the Home Counties.  He has gone from strength to strength and is wanting to branch out into other areas of the UK.  Great reviews from such press as Time Out, Whats Afoot and Folk on Tap.  Andy sings about modern 21st century life in a mildy protesting sort of way!  His new album will be launched at London's prestigious Green Note on May 27th.

Please feel free to visit their own respective websites and browse their achievements and availability.  Not all gigs could be listed on their gig pages, so please enquire if you are looking for a particular date for festivals or gigs.

To book or for further information, please go to the Contact page on this website.  Any artist wishing to talk to me about doing some gigs please give me a call on 07870 727747.

                                                              PRESS RELEASE

Morwellham Quay, Nr Tavistock, West Devon

FOLK ON THE QUAY

Saturday 2nd August 2008

HEADLINE ARTIST - SETH LAKEMAN AND HIS BAND

DEVON folk sensation Seth Lakeman and his band are headlining the sixth Morwellham Quay Folk Festival.  Organisers from the Morwellham and Tamar Valley Trust have a bumper line up in store, packed with eminent folk artists.  Mercury nominee Seth has wowed global audiences in recent years – not least with the powerful Blood Upon Copper, which was written about the toils of working in a tin mine and about Morwellham itself.

Seth, the BBC Radio 2 Folk Singer of the Year in 2007, will be joined on stage by his band, which includes his brother Sean.  Bass and banjo player Ben Nicholls and drummer/percussionist Andy Tween are accompanying the brothers.  The festival will commence at 3pm on Saturday August 2 with Morwellham’s own band Madding Crowd.  Singer/songwriter troubadour Tom Palmer will follow.  He has just completed his latest album on the Chudleigh Roots label by Phil Beer - one half of Britain’s foremost acoustic duo Show of Hands.  Back to Morwellham once again with 20s and 30s foot tapping will be Speakeasy on a rare outing, singing songs that you didn’t know you knew. Much loved Irish folk icons Mad Dog McRae follow with their effervescent style of foot stomping jigs and reels!

The second set will commence with globe trotting Irish singer/songwriter Dan Donnelly, a favourite of the UK Folk Rock scene, delighting the crowd with his guitar playing and foot pedal loops.  New York-based Dan has toured in the past with Seth as his support act and also with the Levellers and the Oysterband.  Making a very rare appearance at Morwhellham will be the celebrated singer/songwriter Rev Hammer who enjoyed a week of touring in February 2008 with his self-penned world first Folk Opera Freeborn John.  Arenas sold out nationwide as Rev travelled the country with cast members the New Model Army, The Levellers, Maddy Prior and Rory McCloud.   Seth Lakeman will headline the festival to round off an incredible day of live folk music.

Morwellham has and will continue to experience a period of regeneration and change to bring this beautiful historical mining port alive again.  Charitable trust Morwhellham Quay is now receiving funding to regain its former glory. The Quay recently gained accreditation of World Heritage Site status, as part of the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape.  Specialists, passionate and dedicated to restoring the Quay back to how it should be, are working to ensure that it will again be able to be enjoyed by countless visitors from around the world.
